Our
Philanthropic Mission
In
1961, a group of visionary community leaders and representatives of the
Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Church of Christ founded
Horizon House, downtown Seattle’s first retirement residence. Today
nearly 600 seniors living active and fulfilling lives are proud to call
this vibrant community their home.
If
you ask a new resident to list reasons for moving here, chances are that
one will be our “safety net”, the assurance that financial setbacks
will not jeopardize their ability to stay
in their home.
This is at the heart of our mission.
For
over thirty years our Residents Assistance Program has been providing
confidential financial aid to residents in need. No
resident of Horizon House has ever had to leave due to inability to pay.
We
are justifiably proud of this tradition of caring for our neighbors, yet
it requires a community-wide effort to continue to make it a reality now
and into the future. |
