Soaring health care costs and increasing life spans will continue to create unanticipated financial challenges for some of our friends and neighbors. 

Your gifts may help pay for nursing care for “Mary”, who is recovering from a fall, therapy for “John”, who is severely arthritic, or weekly groceries for “Helen”.

I never dreamed that my husband and I would need financial support in our later years. We raised our family, while saving assiduously for retirement.  But he had a prolonged illness, and we could not possibly have anticipated the cost of health care back in the 1980s, when we thought about retirement. If it weren’t for the Residents Assistance Fund we would have had to leave Horizon House. That would have been devastating!

Additionally, each year, there are many important projects or programs that simply cannot be funded through our regular operating budget. These add to the quality of life for residents and enhance the sense of community among Horizon House residents. 

All support for our charitable programs comes from the generous contributions of individual and corporate donors, as well as income from our endowment.
